Mdantsane Prints

We have created a selection of stunning black and white portraits shot in Mdantsane that can add an African touch to your living or corporate space.

The first series is entitled "Mothers Of A Nation" and portrays elderly African women.
They are the women that could be everybody's grandmothers and great grandmothers. They are the grandmothers of this world.
We have met these women during our visits in different locations in Mdantsane and their stories and faces have left a lasting impression on us. Their stories can never be forgotten and they made us sometimes cry secretly.
No nation can be build, or has ever been built without their women and mothers. Often unseen, not heard, sometimes abused, or ignored, burdened with hard and boring daily tasks, that are considered their entire and natural responsibility during the course of their lives - they can be found all over this world. The mothers of a nation.

At the end of their lives, we look at their faces, that carry the traces of each day and sometimes it might hit us like a flash that we think: What a face! And may be we ask a second question silently: How was her life?

The series of six black and white prints shown below is entitled " MOTHERS OF A NATION ".

This series is available in different sizes. The standard version is sold in a format of 8 x 10 inches each picture ( 20 cm x 28 cm) and we offer it at a special price of R 750.00 for the set, not including frames. Larger print sizes are available as well and if you are interested in a larger size or a greater quantity please do contact us for a quote.
These prints can be bought directly from us via EFT transfer into our bank account or through Paypal.
15 % of the profit of each sale will be donated to the Ethembeni Old Age Home in NU 1.
This serves to honor and help this outstanding organisation that was initiated by Pelisa Welemu, my friend, who has also been an incredible support for this book.
Without her this project would have not been possible. We encourage local businesses and organizations to support our project or recommend us further.
