Swing Your Daddy

Here is a little forecast of what is to come!

We are music addicts and vinyl record collectors and we collect especially the out of press music, labels and records of the African Diaspora.

On our trips to Mdantsane and as well to other places outside the township we have found some great African music spanning several decades.

The documentary film we are working on and which is a follow up on the book is a time-travel through the history and the music of South Africa and the music scene of the Mdantsane township told by the people.

1975 Pressing on Chelsea Records Label of Jim Gilstrap" Swing Your Daddy "

There will be lots of cool music. Much of the footage for the film is already available and we are shooting permanently more.
The Editing Part is going to be a challenge because there is so much to show.

We are busy clearing the tracks and securing the official licensing for the songs we want to use in the movie and on the blog. This takes at little time but the first licenses have cleared already.
At present we are working on cleaning the vinyls and recording them and as soon as we have them in an audible from we will give you a taste and upload a selection to the blog.
We do not host download links.
The music is generally out-of-print or otherwise difficult to obtain on the open market. It is posted here out of love and respect for the music and the artists! Either we have made sure that the tracks are in the public domain or we have obtained the official license for a song. If you love the songs you are strongly encouraged to support the original artist.

If your music is posted on this blog and you would like it removed please email:
SO that while you read our posts you can really SWING YOUR DADDY !
