Watch our Minicast about some of the people we met in Mdantsane and listen to Miriam Makeba's magic voice.
The song we have chosen to play with these stunning images is called MADUNA written in 1957 by Miriam Makeba one of South Africa's greatest artists. I have recorded it from the original 1957 pressing on RCA Victor with no other than the great Hugh Masekela conducting her orchestra. It's one of the records I have been able to buy in Mdantsane and it is a real treat. Enjoy it!
Maduna is feared by all the young girls because he is roguish at times, he meets his match when one girls says to him, " Looking at me in that manner will not help you much because I fear you not, so much so that I do not even realize your existence any more, for many years, you have hounded me, that is purely history now."
